Caps win four of six at home, now face division leader on the road

The Columbus Blue Jackets and Washington Capitals will do battle tonight in Columbus as they continue to also battle with the surprising New York Islanders team on the out of town score board because the Islanders are atop the Metropolitan Division. New York took over first place as both the Blue Jackets and Capitals struggled before and right after the All-Star break. Since their recent skids, both the Jackets and Caps have put forth a better effort and have begun turning things around. The Islanders lead Washington by three points and both Columbus and Pittsburgh by five heading into the Tuesday nights slate of games. After a season long six game home stand, the game tonight in Columbus kicks off Washington’s longest road trip of the season, a six-game stretch that will take the Capitals all the way out to California and back to the Eastern time zone.
