Both played themselves.  The plot is that Leo wants Phil Foster to speak at a Dodgers team function, so he asks Joey Bishop’s character Joey Barnes (a talk-show host in the sitcom) to get Foster for him, because Barnes is Foster’s friend. The problem is that Foster is angry over the team’s move from Brooklyn, and he hates the Los Angeles Dodgers. 361 posts Ferdinand Cesarano I recently saw a rare example of team sports apparrel being worn by a fan long before this became commonplace. On the episode of the sitcom The Joey Bishop Show that aired on Februrary 8, 1964, the character of the apartment building handyman Jillson, played by the great Joe Besser (who is best known as Stinky on The Abbott and Costello Show, and who also was a very good post-Shemp member of the The Three Stooges) wears a Brooklyn Dodger cap; and he emphatically calls Joey’s attention to it.   1 On 1/27/2017 at 7:09 AM, Gothamite said: ImmortalChef 22,644 Posted January 27, 2017 Sports Logo News Location:New York Gothamite Followers 1 This is a pretty unusual occurrence for 1964. A decade later, Oscar Madison would frequently wear a Met cap and sometimes wear a Yankee cap on The Odd Couple. But in 1964 there weren’t too many people anywhere wearing caps with the logos of teams, much less the former logo of a team that had moved. That’s another good one, but by the 1970s ball caps were more common.  1964 was pretty early.  Link to post Share this post Posted January 31, 2017center_img 22,644 0 4 Link to post But Klinger is also wearing a baseball jersey, which is pretty rare for 70’s, also MASH takes place in the 50’s Sign in to follow this   252 This topic is now closed to further replies.
