Today’s Prices Can’t Stay Low for LNG

first_imgFacebookTwitterEmailPrintFriendly分享Today’s low LNG prices likely couldn’t support a multi-billion dollar gas project in Alaska, but that doesn’t necessarily mean the AK LNG Project is in danger. Persily said prices never remain high or low for an extended period of time. The LNG Project will likely make a final investment decision late in 2018 or early in 2019. Kenai Peninsula Borough Oil and Gas Special Assistant Larry Persily says demand for projects will drive gas prices up…center_img Persily: “Yes, they’re low. Yes, they’re too low, probably, for this project. But they really can’t last because no one can afford to build a new one at that price, whether it’s Alaska, British Columbia or Russia or anywhere else in the world. So I guess the reminder is that it’s not today’s price that affects this project, it’s what the market is going to pay in the 2020’s and beyond that will determine if this project can be built and if it can be economically competitive.”last_img
