The crucial part to reverse this economy is to consume our locally manufactured products, because if you do that then you are reducing the imports. “We must import but why do we have to import in abundance the things that we produce and manufacture in Dominica that is even better that what we are importing, we cannot continue to do that and this is a serious matter,” Guthrie said.Guthrie noted that the organizers of the event are on a drive to create the awareness to get consumers to not only attend the event and purchase goods, but to also “be aware of the different things that we have been producing and manufacturing that you don’t even know about”.Meanwhile, president of DACPA Francis Richards noted that there will be a Dominica Day as part of the extravaganza.“We know a lot of persons will be in Dominica for the carnival so this extravaganza is an ideal place to come and purchase locally made products to take back with you. Friday is dubbed Dominica Day and persons are encouraged to come out in full force to purchase products”, Richards stated. He said the Association is also looking into the possibility of setting up a craft village where all arts and craft items can be displayed and sold in one location.Thirty-eight arts and craft persons have registered for the extravaganza which runs from 6th to 9th February and on 13th February (Ash Wednesday).Dominica Vibes News[nggallery id=269].last_img
